ARTIST INFO
ARTIST'S STATEMENT I have enjoyed drawing and painting since I was very young. I took many Art classes and was told several times in school that I had a good artistic talent. Possibly enough to pursue a career in art. Then in college I took a drawing class and it opened up a whole new understanding of my art and myself. Since then I have been pushing myself to develop my own style. I enjoy working in all mediums and have been exploring with ways to bring them all together. I have just begun to explore the world of ceramics, but I can already see its influence in my 2D artwork. I have heard that a real artist will never be satisfied with any of their art, because a real artist will always see room for improvement. I suppose, by that definition, I am a real artist, for I can always see things that could be improved in all of my art.

MURAL PROJECTS
Local Teen Helps Brighten the Pediatric Ward The pediatric ward at Marian Medical Center will be a little brighter next week as a result of the efforts of one Orcutt teen. As an eighth grader at St. Louis de Montfort this Spring, Samantha Pule won an essay contest sponsored by Eddie and Joanne Stanfield of Century 21 Hometown Realty, answering the question, "If you had one day to make a difference, what would you do?" One of nine children, Samantha has seen more than one sibling spend time in Marian's pediatric ward and often thought the atmosphere could be more comfortable and cheerful with a colorful wall mural. In addition to receiving a check for $200, Samantha also won the opportunity to have her dream realized. Beginning Tuesday, August 8, seven local artists will volunteer their time and talent to paint Samantha's mural to transform one of Marian's pediatric rooms into a whimsical garden. Kerin Mase, RN, Director of Pediatrics at Marian Medical Center is looking forward to the project. "We're honored to be a part of Samantha's efforts to make a difference and the new mural is sure to enhance the atmosphere for our patients." In addition to the Stanfield's sponsorship, Lieberman Painting and ICI Paints will donate supplies and materials for the project. The Town Center Gallery Artists who will sketch and paint the mural include Minnie Anderson, Margie Bowker, Craig DeLeenher, Cathy Gregg, Bev Haskel, Jennifer Plude, and Hattie Stoddard.
